Led by Roberto Egidi, a group of archaeologists found five marble statue head thought to be members of the imperial dynasties Severan and a statue of Zeus, the greatest god of Greece, while digging a public site in the city of Rome.

Excavation was located near the fountain in the ancient Roman luxury villas, along the street Via Anagnina, southeast of Rome. Italian Culture Ministry said the findings of this unusual finding is one of the largest and most important in the history of the Italian capital.

Old statues will be handed over to the official agency of the National Museum of Rome and taken first to the Baths Diocleatian, near Termini station, to undergo restoration beginning immediately.

"Maybe the last owner of the villa is a high-ranking officials who have anything to do with the dynasty of the Roman Empire Septimius Severus," Italian Culture Ministry said in a statement.

"The presence of graves in the vicinity of the villa became a strong base hypotheses. According to estimates, the statue was buried since the second or third century. Burial was part of a ritual usually performed when the owner of the villa before (Severus) has gone," he added.

Severus reigned in the years 193-211 BC. In the era, he succeeded in restoring stability in the country without any bloodshed of the Empire that had previously Commodus volatile. He established the Severan dynasty ended in 235 AD. The fall of the dynasty was marked by the murder by one of his heirs.
