Housing sector is destroyed by 39 percent

The National Disaster Mitigation Agency and the National Development Planning Agency have fully made a figure on the damages and losses from Mount Merapi eruption which took place between October 26 and November 5, 2010, amounting to Rp4.23 trillion (US$466.7 million).

Four regencies - Magelang, Boyolali, Klaten and Sleman - are mostly affected by the disaster.

As reported by the National Disaster Mitigation Agency on Sunday, Jan 16, housing sector is destroyed by 39 percent while water and irrigation sectors suffer 13 percent of the total damage. The total affliction is worth Rp1.138 trillion (27 percent) while the total losses reach Rp3.089 trillion (73 percent).

Agricultural sector is injured by Rp1.326 trillion (43 percent) and industrial sector and micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises lose Rp382 billion (12.4 percent).
